e hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Wiches are created delicious, but some Wiches are created more delicious than others, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Condiments, that among these are Cole Slaw, Spicy Mayo, and the pursuit of Happiness.
Yes: after six months and one day of competition, the Which Wich Tournament 2010 has its winner! [Drumroll…] The Club! By a 5-4 final vote, the Club defeated the Pork Tenderloin to reign as the top ‘Wich. Along the way, the competition has earned us mentions on Which Wich’s Twitter, a box of cookies from the franchise staff, and the bemused glances and inquiries from numerous restaurant patrons.
Now, you might see this result as nothing more than a classic ‘wich taking its rightful place at the top of the sandwich pecking order, but there are several arguments that this is not the case. First, Which Wich eschews the traditional double-decker club sandwich; it serves the sandwich on the same white or wheat French-bread roll as any of its other sandwiches, so it’s up to the other ingredients to shine. And that leads to perhaps the best argument for the Club: its versatility. The Club’s turkey, ham, and bacon form a sturdy meat tripod upon which to build the perfect sandwich. This Which Wich Wednesday, one team of judges went with avocado, honey mustard, and spicy mayo, while another put its faith in a generous helping of cole slaw. Either way, it was a success. The Pork Tenderloin put up a good fight (BBQ sauce, caramalized onions, and ‘slaw were tantalizing additions), but the Club can be congratulated on a well-earned victory.
Congratulations to instigators James and Britton, the employees of the Gulf Coast Community Design Studio, the staff of the D’Iberville Which Wich, and of course Santa Claus for making this all possible.
